A few quick checks if your boiler fails...
During extreme cold weather conditions it is important that your heating and hot water requirements are maintained.
Although we hope that your boiler remains fault-free during this time, there may be occasions where it fails, leaving you without heating and hot water.
To help us give residents good service, and prioritise those most in need, please follow the guidance below and try to get your boiler working before you contact us.
Please note: Do not attempt to undertake any of the guidance points below if you have any doubt about being able to do them. Contact us on the number below first.
Firstly, what system you have - Conventional or Combi?
• Conventional System - boiler and hot water tank OR
• Combi System - instant hot water
Conventional System - what to do
Follow these steps:
1. Check your gas supply (Money on key? Lights on meter?).
2. Check that the electrical supply to boiler is switched on.
3. Check your programmer, making sure that it is in the ‘on' position (heating and hot water).
4. Check that your room thermostat is turned up.
5. Check that your radiators are turned on.
6. Check for lights showing on your boiler (if any, note which one/s).
7. Check that your boiler thermostat is turned up high.
8. Check that your boiler's pilot light is on.
Combi System - what to do
Follow these steps:
1. Check your gas supply (Money on key? Lights on meter?).
2. Check that the electrical supply to boiler is switched on.
3. Check your programmer making sure that it is in the ‘on' position (heating and hot water).
4. Check that your room thermostat is turned up.
5. Check that your radiators are turned on.
6. Check for showing lights on your boiler (if any, note which one/s)
7. Check that your boiler thermostat is turned up high.
8. Check that your boilers pilot light is on.
9. Check the boiler's water pressure gauge (should be at 1.5 bar).
10. Check for any lights flashing on your boiler. If so, are they displaying a code number?
11. Is your boiler making any noise/s?
12. Try the hot water only (does your boiler fire up?)
Do not attempt to undertake any of the guidance points if you have any doubt about being able to do them. You should contact Phoenix if you are a tenant, or your usual repairs and maintenance service provider.
