The grass in the communal areas on the housing estates should be maintained between 30mm and 70mm in length at all times. Grass clippings are collected and contractor will ensure hard areas, shrub beds are also clear of grass cutting etc, before leaving the site by sweeping or blowing them off.

Shrub bed maintenance Glendale is required, under the contract to maintain shrub and rose beds in accordance with 'recognised horticultural best practice'. This requires: beds to be maintained in a weed, leaf and litter-free condition and to be left in a cultivated condition, residual herbicide to be applied as required to maintain a long term weed-free effect, beds to be edged using an edging iron following maintenance operations and shrubs/roses to be pruned in accordance with the requirements of each individual species.

Hedge maintenance

Hedge-cutting is dealt with on a frequency basis. The contract states that all hedges are to receive a maintenance visit and be cut at least twice a year. As well as the cutting of the hedge in accordance with 'best horticultural practice', there is also a requirement that the hedge bed is maintained in a weed free condition, any self-seeded saplings are removed, and where necessary, the hedge bed is edged with an edging iron. These operations are to take place at the same time as the cut.

Bulk Rubbish is dumped on Phoenix housing estates and communal green areas and this cost rubbish3Phoenix and ultimately the residents of Phoenix thousands of pounds. Phoenix spent over £60,000.00 disposing of bulk rubbish left the housing estates between April 2009 and March 2010. At Phoenix we are aiming to reduce the amount of bulk rubbish left on the estates and green areas.

We will investigate complaints and incidents of bulk rubbish left on our estates where evidence is available, we will make every effect to identify and take court action against perpetrators. Residents caught dumping bulky waste could face court action or a fine.
