Grounds Maintenance Standards
The Environment section is responsible for the grounds maintenance operations in the Phoenix area. Glendale carries out the grounds maintenance as our contractor.  This work includes grass cutting, hedge cutting, and shrub, flower and rose-bed maintenance. 

We aim to maintain the grounds to a standard to be proud of for all residents of Phoenix.  Therefore, we aim to achieve the maintenance standards listed below. If you believe that these standards are not being met, please contact the environment section.

Element Standard
Grassed areas:

Shall be maintained to a uniform length between 30 and 70 mm;
Edges shall be trimmed;
Free from fallen leaves, weeds and litter, excrement;
Shall be of uniform appearance;
Shall of free of grass cuttings.
Trees, shrubs & hedges:

Trimmed, pruned and/or cut to maintain healthy growth and so as to minimise:
- the risk of crime and or vandalism;
- the opportunity for storm wind damage;
- risk of fire;
- the obstruction of roadways, pathways, car parks, etc.;

Are secure and safe;
Free from dead or dying branches;
Free from litter;
Free from disease and/or aphid infestation;
Replaced as and when necessary to maintain appearance. 
Hard surfaces -
Paving, Paths,
Driveways, Roads,
Car parks &
Hardstandings:

Free from weeds;
Free from standing water, ice, snow;
Free from fallen leaves, moss algae or interstitial weeds;
Kerbs and edgings are sound;
No loose kerbs or paving stones;
Free from graffiti and or vandalism.
Play Areas

 

Free from graffiti and or vandalism;  
Play equipment free from defects;   
Play Surfaces free from moss algae and/or interstitial weeds.


Boundaries, including
Fences, Walls & Gates

Intact safe sound and secure;
Free from graffiti and damage;
Free from graffiti and or vandalism;
Locks are operational.

We make sure that all areas are maintained appropriately, and that standards of cleanliness, and health and safety, are achieved by regular inspections at least twice a month.
